The past keeps holding you back.
You tell yourself you’re over it, but when something comes up in your day-to-day life that reminds you of what happened, it’s like you’re right back there again.
Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, but it seems like no amount of talking about it helps you feel more at ease. The feelings, flashbacks, and nightmares that follow you are completely overwhelming, and you’re exhausted just trying to make it to tomorrow.
It’s hard to show up 100% in any part of your life with how little sleep you’re getting, and focusing for long enough to get a task done feels impossible. Now, it’s like you’re stuck in a never-ending cycle of bad thoughts, and it’s getting harder to see a way through.
There is hope for a brighter future.
With EMDR, you’ll be able to heal from trauma and live life in a way that truly fulfills you. You’ll feel closer to yourself, your faith, and your purpose than ever before, and finally feel free from your past.
How EMDR works
Heal from the root issue and grow.
Scientific studies have shown that traumatic experiences physically change our brains. Imagine the things you do to cope — drinking, binge-watching TV, overeating, doom scrolling — are like bandaids on a wound that really needs stitches.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy that uses eye movements or tapping to help the brain reprocess memories of traumatic or distressing events. It's like giving your brain a gentle nudge to unlock those stuck emotions and allowing you to heal from the inside out. It doesn't erase the memory, but it can make it feel less overwhelming, giving you more control over your thoughts, feelings, and future.
-
You and your therapist will start by discussing the upsetting memories or experiences you want to work on resolving. You can choose to share as little or as much detail as you’d like—what’s most important is that you have the memories defined in your mind.
Next, your therapist will guide you to do gentle eye movements or tap on parts of your body to help connect both sides of your brain in order to process those memories in a new way. While doing this, you might notice thoughts, feelings, or images coming up—your therapist will help you move through these things.
After, you’ll discuss any insights you may have come across and identify healthy ways to cope moving forward.
Many EMDR participants have reported finding long-lasting relief from severe emotional distress in as few as 6 sessions. You’ll follow up weekly and watch the way you think about yourself and your life transform as time goes on.

Common questions about EMDR
-
EMDR therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy approach that helps individuals process distressing memories and trauma. During EMDR sessions, you'll be asked to focus on certain past experiences while your therapist guides you through bilaterally-stimulating exercises such as eye movements or tapping, to aid the processing of emotions and reduce their impact on your everyday life.
-
EMDR has been considered controversial by some because its underlying mechanisms aren't fully understood. Some traditional therapists may have been initially skeptical of its rapid approach to trauma resolution, but it has gained widespread recognition and acceptance within the mental health community over time.
-
While therapy outcomes can vary from person to person, and not everyone may experience the same level of benefit, EMDR has shown promising results for many individuals struggling with trauma-related issues. Numerous studies suggest that it can be effective in reducing symptoms of PTSD and other emotional disturbances.
