Online sessions for women in Chicago & across IL
The love in your life hasn't turned out anything like the fairytales.
In the beginning, it was perfect. Dates, gifts, romance, talking for hours — it felt meant to be. If only you could just take care of this week’s problem…maybe things would go back to how they were.
At this point, your relationship feels like another chore on your never-ending list. It’s exhausting, but you’re worried everything will fall apart if you take time for yourself or ask for help. You’ve tried to change in every way your partner wants you to, but he makes it seem like you can’t do anything right.
Looking back, it seems like you’ve dated the same kind of man over and over again all your life, and you don’t know how they keep fooling you. Now, you feel stuck and wonder if the kind of love you dream about even exists.
Here’s the bad news and the good news:
The only person you can really “fix” is you.
You’re probably used to taking on responsibilities on everyone’s behalf, but when it comes to love? You can’t make someone treat you how you want to be treated — and you definitely can’t wait around forever for your man to figure it out. You can, however, learn to give all of that love and more to yourself.
The fact that you’re here means you’re ready to heal.
Let’s make some lemonade out of those lemons.
In therapy with us, you will…
-
With your therapist’s guidance, you’ll take a look at how your life experiences have affected your view of and approach to love. As women who have lived through similar issues ourselves, our therapists will make sure you feel seen, understood, and never judged. Together, you’ll talk about the fears created by your past and the hopes you have for your future.
-
We’ll help you define what love means to you. You’ll learn to see love as more of a verb than a feeling, and how to let go of shame and self-judgment. Then, we’ll look at how you can actively treat yourself the way you want to be treated, and you’ll start to see that love reflected throughout your life.
-
We’ll help you feel more comfortable setting boundaries and giving yourself the grace and compassion you deserve. You’ll practice this new approach to self-love daily, knowing that we’ll be here to support you in your journey every step of the way.
This will lay a strong foundation for more fulfilling relationships in the future, and you’ll finally feel free from the things that used to hold you back.

Common questions about counseling for relationships
-
We don’t offer couples counseling. Our focus is on helping individuals struggling with relationship issues through one-on-one therapy sessions. With this approach, we support those individuals as they heal from the root causes of their issues so that they have a better understanding of themselves and what healthy love looks like.
If, in addition to individual therapy with us, you and your partner are interested in seeing a therapist together, we’re happy to refer you to a couples’ counselor we trust.
-
Absolutely. While anxiety can have many different triggers, attachment and relationship issues can be significant ones. Many find that the tools they learn in counseling not only help them identify what about their relationship is making them anxious but also how to work through that anxiety and be assertive in asking for what they need.
-
The purpose of seeking therapy for issues you experience in relationships is more about learning the self-awareness, self-compassion, and communication tools you need to live in a way that fulfills you. We’re happy to support you at any stage of a relationship, but our role lies in helping you be okay regardless of the outcome.
-
Depending on what resonates with you, we may utilize methods like Brainspotting, EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, or DBT. The goal is to identify and address any past traumas, negative patterns, and limiting beliefs that may be influencing your current relationship dynamics.
